Chef in Comune

In February 2018, Courmayeur’s “social table” – Chef in Comune – took place for the second time. Chef in Comune is an important charity project which raises funds for social causes by hosting exceptional dining experiences, since cooking is, primarily, a “gesture of love”, as defined by Massimo Bottura, the patron of the first year’s inaugural event.

The ingredients of this social table are simple – eight dinners for 16 guests in a one-of-a-kind location. The Council Chamber of the Town Hall of Courmayeur, specially arranged for the occasion, opens the door to a small group of highly distinguished guests as an exclusive “restaurant” for the week.

The Guest Chef of the 2018 edition was the Australian chef Dave Pynt whose barbecue restaurant “Burnt Ends” in Singapore came #10 in the 2017 Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants List, with Dave receiving “Chef ’s Choice Award”. Dave’s cuisine, based on grilling and wood-fired oven techniques, was matched with the finest delicacies from local producers in the Aosta Valley.

For the second edition of the event, all proceeds were donated to the nonprofit organization – Associazione Dynamo Camp Onlus –  an association that offers free recreational therapy programs to 6-to-17- year-olds with serious and chronic pathologies, as well as to their families.
